Cardio Strength with Deb Lezama
Monday 9:00 - 10:00 am

Cardio Strength class is a great way to build core muscles, flexibility, and bone mass using light hand weights in a fun and fast-paced workout. Led by California Pilates teacher Deb Lezama, this is a thorough, all-around workout.

 

Hip Hop Dance with Darryl Sandoz
Wednesday 7:15 - 8:30 pm

Easy-to-learn, fluid moves start you out with a warm-up and stretches, then slowly build into aerobic sequences for strength and cardio stamina. No dance experie nce required - instructor Darryl "DEE MAC" Sandoz is experienced in teaching all levels at local colleges and studios - he has also worked with Nellie, Pink, Missy Elliot and others on videos, TV, and live performances. Come join the fun, break a sweat, and pick up some cool new moves!

Come to Nia to play and get fit. Our fun, unique cardiovascular workout combines dance, martial arts and yoga with world music to stimulate the body, mind, spirit, and emotions. Open to all levels, we adjust the activities to your skills, with no "right" way to move - pleasure, joy of movement, and dynamic ease are the guides. Follow our highly-certified teachers, Reneigh and Tracy, and enjoy the elements of tai chi, Tai Kwon Do, aikido, modern dance, jazz, yoga and more in one fun, invigorating hour!

 

Zumba with Kim Howard

Fundamentals of INVERSIONS:
How to be upside down safely and effectively
Sunday, April 13, 2008 1:00-3:30pm

Learn how to invert safely and effectively for improved circulation and postural alignment as well as increased energy and relaxation. This workshop is appropriate for those who desire new insights into handstand, headstand, and shoulderstand, as well as for those who have contra-indications such as glaucoma, high blood pressure, and cervical spine issues. Taught by Lucy Holmes, E-RYT 500 (Experienced, Registered Yoga Teacher at the 500 hour level), who has been teaching since 1992, has studied with internationally renowned teachers (Iyengar, Anusara, and Astanga), and who understands the joys as well as the challenges of being upside down!

Yoga

Yoga Basics with Kim Kaplan
Saturdays 11:00 - 12:15 pm, beginning March 15th

Open to all levels, this introductory class will help ground you in the foundation moves of yoga. Whether you want to strengthen your ongoing practice, are returning as a student, or just starting out, this class will help solidify your understanding and experience of yoga.

Intro to Yoga with Kim Kaplan

In these six-week programs, participants will learn ASANAS (postures), PRANAYAMA (breath), simple MEDITATION TECHNIQUES, and yogic philosophy. These classes will give students the opportunity to experience the gifts of yoga under the close supervision of the primary instructor and the teaching assistant as well as the opportunity to ask questions. Upon completion of either class, students will have an understanding of Yoga as a whole, allowing for a smooth transition into open-level Yoga classes. These classes are for those with some yoga experience to none at all. All are welcome to deepen their understanding of self (body and mind).

These classes require registration and are limited to 15 participants each. Please contact the front desk. Payment is expected upon space reservation.

In-Home Instruction!

In-Home Pilates and Yoga

Enjoy the convenience and privacy of in-home instruction. We offer all the styles of yoga on our yoga page, plus therapeutic yoga for disabled or aging family members (chair yoga). Pilates lessons include mat work and exercise utilizing the fit ball, light weights, magic circle and thera-bands.

$100 per session for first 2 people, $15 for each additional student.

For a class of 25 people, the Pilates and Yoga Center of St. Louis offer a special rate of $15/person, for a minimum of $2250 for a six-week class.

For smaller classes, there is a flat rate of $200/class for the first 10 people, with $15/additional person, for a minimum of $1200 for a six-week class.

We stage one free demo class, where we bring all props and equipment needed. After that, yoga/Pilates mats and Pilates circles are offered at a special rate of $25/each for those who need them. We also prepare a flyer for the class(es) which you can post or email to co-workers.
